Sophisticated Grunge

Wow, it's been a little crazy here in my home the past couple of days. I was in bed all day yesterday with the flu. No fun! Once I ventured out of bed this morning, my back ached so bad from laying around all day yesterday. Wasn't sure which was worse, the back ache, or my stomach ache. Gotta love it!

Anyway, Amber has released a most beautiful kit this week over at her blog Stolen Moments. It's titled Sophisticated Grunge. You can download it all throughout the week. I know you'll love it. Below is a look at her kit, click on it to be taken to her blog.

Here are a couple of layouts I did using this
kit. One of them is for a book that my brother is putting together for my parents for Christmas. The other one I created specifically for Amber.
This is the one for my parents.
I did use part of a kit from
Digi-Designs by Nicole on this
layout as well.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to all!

Painter's Quilt

Amber over at Stolen Moments has just released a fun kit called Painter's Quilt. My parents both quilt and this reminds me of them. I had every intention of taking pictures of the many patchwork quilts they have made for my cute little family, but it just didn't happen this week. So, I went through my pictures and found this darling picture of my dad (Papa) with Annalise curled up on his lap from when we visited in 2007. Definitely made me miss my parents! Anyway, click on the paper preview below to be taken to Amber's blog and download her kit all throughout the week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! Don't forget to let her know what you think of this fun kit. Also, check out the layout I made using this kit.

Template used: Scrap Matters can be found here.

Anxiously Awaiting Classic and Beach Bum

Wow, I don't know about the rest of you, but my life seems a little crazy lately. It could be because I'm way behind on Christmas shopping, or maybe it's because we are down to one car (minor fender bender by hubby a couple of weeks ago and now our car is declared totaled. Yup, it was an old car 11 years old to be exact), or maybe it's because on Saturday I'm in charge of a Christmas party for my church where there will be close to 200 + people. Yup, it's crazy here in my home! Anyway.........on to exciting things!

If it weren't for the great opportunities I have doing CT work for Nicole and Amber, I don't think I'd get any scrapping done. As it is, the fabulous scrapbook I wanted to create for my daughters birthmom isn't going to make it for "publication" in time for Christmas. I think it will have to be a Happy New Year type gift. Of course, that is unless there are some of you out there who would like to scrap some pictures of an adorable 2 year old who you probably don't know. Any takers?? Anyway.........on to exciting things.......sorry for the side track comments here.

Nicole has just released a great kit Beach
Bum. It was just what I needed! I love the colors and all that goes along with this great kit. Click on the paper preview to be taken to her blog to download the papers and the rest of the kit throughout the week. Leave her a comment and let her know how much you love it! Also, take a peak at the two pages I created using this kit. What do you think?

Next, Amber created another great kit Anxiously Awaiting Classic. It's just like a kit she previously released, Anxiously Awaiting Contemporary. The difference is, the Classic is in pastels. Now, normally I'm not a pastel type of person. However, this kit made me think twice about pastels. I really liked it! So, click on her kit preview to go and download her kit all throughout the week. Don't forget to leave her a quick note of thanks! I'm sure she would appreciate it! Below the kit preview is also two layouts I created using this kit. Both layouts are using pictures from the placement of my daughter through adoption. What a great day! Scrapping these pictures brought back some wonderful feelings and emotions. It was a day we dreamed of and longed for. It was amazing!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and happy scrapping!

Anxiously Awaiting

Amber over at Stolen Moments has just released a fun pregnancy kit. It's not your normal pastel expecting type kit. It's fabulously bright and contemporary looking. Go and snag it!

Considering I haven't been pregnant for 12 years; plus it was way before my digital camera period in time; I decided to do something a little different with this kit and instead used it to scrapbook Lauren's 5th grade graduation. Hope y
ou enjoy the kit.

Don't forget, you can get the papers now, but you'll need to visit Amber's blog d
aily for the rest of the pieces. You definitely won't want to miss out on this one!

Okay, I need some serious help! Having only been in the digital scrapbooking world for a brief month and a half, I haven't the slightest clue with how to organize my kits, quick pages, templates, and even my layouts. Can anyone help me out here or point me in the right direction? I will surely be extremely thankful if you can!

Living in Florida, I have to remind myself up until about the middle of December that it really is Winter. I live in Northern Florida, so we do tend to get a little colder than say Orlando and Miami. The mornings dip down into the 40's, at least right now. But, by mid day, we are still in the mid to high 70's. This week we are even going to hit 80 degrees. I LOVE IT!!! Having grown up in Utah and having lived in New Hampshire, both cold and snowy places, I must admit I DON'T miss the cold one bit!

Anyway, my intent here is to introduce this fabulous kit by Digi-Designs by Nicole. I really loved this kit! I loved the colors, the p
apers, the elements, pretty much all of it! She's releasing the papers to this kit today, so head over to her site by clicking on the below papers to download them for FREE!! Oh yeah, the kit is called Wonderland. Let me know what you think of it! Don't forget to check back all week at Nicole's Blog to get the rest of the kit! Enjoy!

Here are the two layouts I created using this FABULOUS kit.

Being as we don't get snow very often in Florida, I decided to scrap a few pictures from our Christmas trip last year to Disney World. Disney is definitely a Wonderland!

Craft Project with Scrapbook Paper II (Instructions

Okay, here are the instructions for the frame. I took pictures as I went along so you could kind of see what I was talking about. I'm more of a visual person, so hopefully it will help you out! This frame I am making for Lauren's (my 11 yr old.) friend for her birthday. Her favorite colors were pink, purple, and blue. So I hunted through my huge amounts of paper and found some that seemed to work.

The small square frame is from Michaels in the wood section it cost me a whopping $1.00. The bigger frame was from Walmart and it was like $3.43 (I think). It can be found in the craft section. These were both unfinished frames. I like them because they are cheap and you can paint them any color you want. But you could probably use any type of frame as long as the edges and corners are straight and squared off. Plus, you want to make sure hot glue will stick to whatever you use.Paint Frame

Paint the back of the frame and the sides of your frame usually 2 coats. I usually put 1 coat on the front and the inside (around where the picture is at) of the front. While that is drying you continue on.
Painted frame

Next you need to measure from the inside corner to the edge of your frame. If your frame is square you only need to do one measurement.

Long side measurment of 7 5/8"

Short side measurement of 5 5/8"

If it's a rectangle then you need to measure the long side and the short side. This will determine the size to cut your paper. In this case I used the larger frame and my measurements were 7 5/8" & 5 5/8".

For the short sides I will cut 10 squares (5 for each side) of paper measuring 5 5/8" (squared). For the long side I will cut 10 rectangles (5 for each side) of paper measuring 7 5/8" x 5 5/8". The long side you don't cut into squares because you don't want the rolls to be larger on the longer side. Hope that makes sense.

Cut your paper using your measurements.

10 5 5/8" squared papers

10 7 5/8" x 5 5/8" papers

Roll your papers

Next you take a pencil or a 1/4" dowel and roll each paper. I found that it was easier for the longer papers to use the dowel to roll with.

Rolling paper

I usually push the paper to the bottom of the dowel or pencil to make sure it's rolled straight. You then take your hot glue gun and glue the entire edge and then finish rolling the paper. I don't put the glue right on the edge, maybe in a quarter of an inch in case it seeps out a tad, less mess.
All of the rolled papers--I sort them so I know which paper I want on which side.

Once all papers are rolled you glue each roll onto the frame once the paint is dry. You start with one side and hot glue that side completely before moving on to the next side.

The start of the glueing

One side completely glued on

Now move onto the next side, one of the short sides now. I just work my way around the frame until it's all glued.

Whole frame completely glued

Next, decide what you are going to put in the frame. For this one I decided to do the girl's name. So, I just typed it in a fun font on the computer and printed it out. I did it in a text box the same size as what would be needed to fit inside the frame. This was so I had a cutting guide. I cut it out and then decorated it using left over scraps of paper, ric rac, ribbon, and a cute heart charm.

I tore the top edges of the scrapbook paper for a cute affect, you can't really tell in this picture. I love torn edges!

Put picture or whatever in the frame and wallah, you are done.

Finished project!

There are lots of steps, but I think I did this frame in less than an hour. Your kids can even make them. Lauren made 10 of them last year for her 5th grade Business Days. They were a huge hit and sold super fast. Holler if it doesn't make sense and I'll try to help answer any questions. By the way, this project idea came from the Target scrapbook section. Our Target has little pamphlets for free with ideas in them. So, I can't take the credit for them. They are just DANG cute! Happy creating and I'd love to see what you came up with.

Craft project with scrapbooking paper

So, do you need something to do with all your scrapbook paper stash now that you digital scrapbook? Here are some cute frames I'm making for a lady who's son lives in a group home. His group home is having a craft fair to raise money. These are the only two I have made thus far. I'm going to make several more. I'd better get moving on them : ) Holler if you want instructions! It's very easy and fun to make!

New Creative Team Member

A couple of weeks ago Amber who is the designer behind the Stolen Moments digital scrapbooking kits, decided to create a Creative Team. So, I thought....why not apply. You just never know. I was surprised, excited, thrilled, ecstatic (you get the picture) to open my email on Saturday morning to find out I had been chosen to be a part of her Creative Team with several other talented women! I LOVE her designs and her kits are full of fun things to include in your scrapbooks. She also sells her previously released kits at Taggers Scraps. I really think you will enjoy her work just as much as I do! There is definitely something for everyone. You can even look at some of my previous posts to find some of her kits I've already used.

Amber just released today a new kit He's Late for Class. It's a great kit with lots of fun colors. Obviously, the title indicates it's a boys kit. Being as I only have girls and the kit just happened to match Lauren's school color
s, I used it to make a layout to show off Lauren's school spirit. Here's my layout:

And here are the papers that can be downloaded
(click on the papers to be taken to Stolen Moments)
I'm excited to be apart of two great Creative Teams now! I think I'll hold off on applying for more for the time being. ; ) I'm having a blast creating for two talented women Nicole and Amber. Plus, in creating for them, it's helping me to get the scrapbook done that I need to aggressively work on for Annalise's amazing birth mom for Christmas! As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing".

Don't forget to check out Digi-Designs by Nicole's blog to download the After Dusk collab kit. It's simply fabulous!!

I hope your week brings happiness and many memories! Happy creating!

Whole New World

A whole new world has just been opened up to me. I had no idea (or didn't think of it, not sure which is the case) that you could create a little mini type invite sized as a 4 x 6 print and have it printed off at Wal-Mart. I will never do an invite again and just print it off on my printer. WOW!!! Simple, quick, and dang cute if I do say so myself. I made a 'Save the Date' type card for a church function (see below). I'm sure everyone already new this simple fact, but non the less, I was thrilled to figure it out!
